  • Overview

    Through its governance research and proxy voting recommendations, ISS helps institutional investors understand corporate governance policies and practices at their portfolio companies and take these practices into account in their proxy voting. We are looking for a senior research analyst to join our benchmark research team, covering corporate governance issues in the U.S. market.


    • Complete basic and advanced research on corporate governance issues including director elections, executive compensation issues, and mergers/acquisitions under tight deadlines.
    • Distill financial and corporate governance information and issue proxy vote recommendations based on ISS benchmark policy guidelines
    • Answer internal/external client/issuer queries on research reports and be able to discuss policy issues in detail
    • Complete policy related projects
    • Research policy related issues and support colleagues in their completion of such projects
    • Identify opportunities to enhance the department’s service offering
    • Lead or actively contribute to ISS policy formulation and update efforts, including participation in and/or management of working committees and/or projects
    • Review other analysts’ research related work
    • As needed, assist with recruitment and provide appraisals for team members
    • Provide assistance to director with supervision of department, and other projects/tasks as required from time to time


    • Bachelor´s degree in Finance, Business, or Economics, and a minimum of 7 years of full-time employment experience in in corporate governance/investment analysis and research
    • Good understanding of corporate governance issues, corporate transactions, and capital markets
    • Excellent writing and research abilities; proofreading skills and attention to detail; and well-developed communication skills, both oral and written
    • Familiarity with SEC filings
    • Good understanding of business technology; experience working with technology in an operational context strongly desired
    • Strong computer literacy with previous experience and excellent knowledge of MS Office
    • Ability to work effectively with clients and with colleagues at various staff and management levels across staff and function lines
    • Possess and exhibit enthusiasm and interest in innovation
